Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) began his official agendas in his state visit to Vietnam by visiting the National Hero Monument and Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi City on Friday.
According to a press release received from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, President Jokowi was greeted by Chief of the Vietnamese Presidential Palace, Lê Khánh Hi, upon his arrival at the National Hero Monument.
Thereafter, the president participated in a wreath-placing ceremony to pay his respects to deceased Vietnamese national heroes.
After the ceremony, President Jokowi departed for the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, where he once again placed a wreath as a symbol of respect to the late first president and prime minister of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh.
Jokowi then headed to the Presidential Palace of Vietnam to hold a bilateral meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, Võ Vn Thng.
The Indonesian head of state is also scheduled to meet with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phm Minh Chính and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vng ình Hu.
During his visits to the National Hero Monument and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, President Jokowi was accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi, Presidential Military Secretary Major General Rudy Saladin, and Commander of the Presidential Security Forces Major General Achiruddin.
Earlier, President Jokowi had arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, on Thursday (January 11), after wrapping up his working visit to the Philippines.
Jokowi will later depart for Brunei Darussalam to attend the wedding ceremony of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's son, Prince Abdul Mateen, and meet with local business actors to draw investment to Indonesia.
The president is scheduled to return to Indonesia on January 14, concluding his working visits to three ASEAN countries.
