The Semarang Center for Standardization and Industrial Pollution Prevention Services (BBSPJPPI) developed this application to improve air quality monitoring in the industrial sector.
"This website-based application is a form of our support through BBSPJPPI to the industrial community to improve air quality monitoring in Indonesia," Head of BSKJI, Andi Rizaldi, stated at the inauguration of the Air, Noise, and Vibration Laboratory at BBSPJPPI Semarang, Central Java, on Monday (January 15) as quoted from a statement on Tuesday.
Rizaldi noted that this innovative Internet of Things- (IoT-) based product provides a dashboard showing real-time air quality data information with the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) according to P.14/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/7/2020.
ISPU is an air quality report that can explain how clean or polluted the air quality is, along with an explanation on health impacts after breathing the air for several hours or days, he explained.
"ISPU is calculated by changing the pollutant concentration value into a pollutant index that is described in numbers and colors," he elaborated.
The Airku application displays the ISPU of particulate dust in the air of PM 1, PM 2.5, and PM 10, Rizaldi remarked.
According to the agency head, the application display is being developed to be able to be set as Public View, Industry/User View, and Admin View. The data export feature of the application also allows the industry to evaluate its air waste management and allows regulators to prepare air quality action plans.
"We need the industry to comply with ISPU regulations. Therefore, the Airku application must be developed properly to be immediately used by the industry," he stated.
Meanwhile, BBSPJPPI Head, Sidik Herman, stated that the Airku application was being developed to comply with SNI 9178:2023 concerning Performance Tests of Air Quality Monitoring Tools Using Low-Cost Sensors.
"This application is ready to be commercialized, and the dashboard also allows monitoring work through data reporting from sensors that will be put throughout Indonesia," he explained.
In addition, he sought the participation and cooperation of all parties to create a cleaner and healthier air environment for the community.
