The regional KPU office will deliver logistics required for the 2024 General Elections in stages, starting from February 11, with special focus on the islands of Solor and Adonara.East Flores, East Nusa Tenggar (ANTARA) -
General Elections Commission (KPU) Office of East Flores District, East Nusa Tenggara Province, is strengthening coordination with partners and various institutions to ensure the smooth distribution of election logistics to polling stations located in islands.
"We will distribute the logistics with the help of third parties while coordinating with local governments, military, police, disaster mitigation agencies, and port management to anticipate likely problems triggered by extreme weather," East Flores KPU Chairman Kornelius Abon remarked in East Flores on Wednesday.
According to the plan, he said, the regional KPU office will deliver logistics required for the 2024 General Elections in stages, starting from February 11, with special focus on the islands of Solor and Adonara.
He noted that the commission is planning to hand over the logistics to election committees at the sub-district level while ensuring that they are forwarded to every polling station.
Abon then revealed that the loading and unloading processes of the election logistics for Adonara Island would be carried out at two transit ports, namely Waiwerang Port and an alternative port.
As for Solor, he stated that the KPU will use the Menanga Transit Port to deliver the election logistics.
He also noted that third parties would assist the commission in the distribution process by preparing means of land and sea transportation as well as workers for loading and unloading the logistics.
The KPU has readied a protocol for ensuring the safe and smooth running of the logistics delivery process, he remarked.
"We will make efforts to find means of transport that can protect the logistics from rain, storm, and waves," he pointed out.
He then underscored that all logistics have barcodes attached to facilitate the commission in tracking them.
"By doing so, we will be able to track the logistics in the event of wrongly addressed deliveries," he concluded.
