“Thank you for inviting Indonesia to participate in the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum. We appreciate the support from the Tunisian government and its active contribution to the Mediterranean regional process as part of the 10th World Water Forum," he said in a statement issued by his office on Wednesday.
During a bilateral meeting on Tuesday, Hadimuljono and the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries of Tunisia, Abdelmonem Belati, discussed preparations for the 10th World Water Forum, which will be held in Bali from May 18–25, 2024, and opportunities for water resource cooperation.
In addition, Hadimuljono extended an invitation from Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Tunisian President Kais Saied to attend the 10th World Water Forum (WWF).
According to Hadimuljono, the Tunisian government has played an active role in the Mediterranean regional forum leading up to the 10th World Water Forum. Therefore, Indonesia hopes that the results of the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum can contribute to substantive preparations for the Bali water forum.
Reflecting on the experiences of Indonesia and Tunisia in developing water resources programs, he said that his party is open to collaboration with the Tunisian government, especially in the field of infrastructure development.

According to him, both countries can learn from each other's experiences. For example, Indonesia can learn from Tunisia about programs for boosting agricultural productivity, food security, and sustainable agriculture, as well as empowering local farming communities.
The minister said that Indonesia is experienced in the use of weather modification techniques for agriculture and even, flood control. Therefore, he expressed the hope that the two countries can explore opportunities for cooperation in the future.
"With the momentum of the 10th World Water Forum, we can sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Bali," he added.
Meanwhile, Minister Belati welcomed the opportunity for cooperation between Indonesia and Tunisia. According to him, Indonesia's experience in building dams and developing weather modification techniques can be of help to Tunisia.
"I hope we can sign the MoU in Bali," he added.
On a separate occasion, Hadimuljono held a bilateral meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Water Resources (SDA) and Irrigation, Hani Sewilam, to discuss plans to conduct a side event at the 10th World Water Forum with other African countries. He also invited Egypt to attend the forum in Bali.
