"Today, we are transporting (ballot papers) from a warehouse in North Jakarta to one on Pramuka Island. We will repack the ballot papers before delivering them to islands," Chairman of Seribu Islands KPU Iman Cahyadi remarked in Jakarta on Friday.
He explained that his office is transporting a total of 22,515 ballot papers, 320 ballot boxes, and 320 voting booths to Pramuka Island using traditional boats from the Marina Ancol Dock.
Cahyadi remarked that the delivery process of the election logistics to Pramuka Island would only take several hours.
He revealed that on Pramuka Island, the KPU will unpack the logistics before loading them into new packages that will be transported to several islands in the district.
"Our target is to ensure that all logistics arrive at all polling stations by February 13, 2024, one day prior to the Election Day," he stated.
Earlier, Chief of the Seribu Islands Resort Police, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Jarot, had stated that his office would deploy personnel to escort the logistics delivery process.
"Around 60 joint personnel from the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), Polri (National Police), Jakarta Transportation Office, Satpol PP (Jakarta Public Order Security Agency), and Bawaslu (General Elections Supervisory Agency) will escort the delivery process," he stated in Jakarta on Friday.
He also expressed relief that northern Jakarta's waters are currently not blanketed by storms amid the rainy season.
"Thank God, today, we are enjoying good and calm weather, so the logistics can be transported," he affirmed.
