Surabaya (ANTARA) - Deputy Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Angela Tanoesoedibjo, on Sunday (February 11), urged communities in East Java Province to forge synergy and collaboration to boost Indonesia's economy, as the country is welcoming the demographic bonus.

"We would like to invite communities to align their goals since we are entering a demographic bonus, where the number of people of the productive age group of between 15 and 64 years is higher than that of the non-productive age group," she remarked in Surabaya, East Java.

Tanoesoedibjo made the statement during a dialogue themed "The Role of Communities in the Tourism and Creative Economy Sectors in 2024" with communities.

The deputy minister noted that the number of people of the productive age group in Indonesia would continue to increase until 2045, when the country is projected to achieve the vision of Golden Indonesia.

To that end, she encouraged community members that run micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to continue to make innovation in a bid to help Indonesia bolster its economy.

"Creative economic communities can play a role as a bridge of collaboration for the sake of actualizing the Golden Indonesia Vision," she pointed out.

She then suggested that communities be open minded and focused on working together in order to maintain synergy.

"That way, communities can continue to make creations under collaboration," she remarked.

On the same occasion, Chairperson of the Generasi Pesona Indonesia (Genpi) community Siti Chotijah explained that Genpi serves as a platform that supports communities across Indonesia to promote tourism and creative economy starting from the narrowest scope.

"Genpi is the manifestation of the regional communities' eagerness to contribute to the development of Indonesia's tourism sector," she remarked.

The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry established Genpi in 2016.

In addition to Genpi, more than 30 tourism and creative economic communities, including Puteri Atribut, Levelup.ig, Njombangan, and Mojoagung Gamelan Heritage, participated in the Sunday dialogue.
