“MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprise) actors have asked about how to increase their business quality, how to increase their business step, and how to build a sustainable business,” she informed.
“I think it starts from good governance. Of course, we need to consider the situation on the field because it might differ from one another. Thus, we have to collaborate,” she said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.
Tanoesoedibjo related the story of a leather craftsman from Tanggulangin, whose business boomed in the 1990s, but is currently declining. She said that good governance must be encouraged for better business management.
During the "Technical Guidance on Improving the Quality of Tourism Destinations and Creative Economy Products Management" in Sidoarjo district, Tanoesoedijbo expressed the hope that her side will accommodate the aspirations and align the ideas of the central government, regional governments, and creative economy actors.
This will allow the government to provide useful and targeted programs in the future.
The deputy minister then offered tips to the technical guidance attendees on increasing their products’ competitiveness.
“We need to be confident with our products, and our products need to have a consistent quality. Thus, when we want to step up the business, for example, if an institution wants to buy our product continuously on a large scale, the good quality is maintained,” she explained.
Tanoesoedibjo also urged creative economy actors to strengthen their product branding and be proactive in the digital era, especially in marketing.
“In marketplaces, there are many competitive products, and we need tips regarding branding and packaging, as well as a special understanding and trial and error process,” she said.
The ministry is developing several programs in support of tourism and creative economy actors. One of the programs is training and accompaniment through re-skilling, up-skilling, and new skilling by providing mentors who are experts in the field.
