Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Abdul Muhari stated here on Wednesday that to respond quickly to these potential disasters, the center had readied the Disaster Mitigation Operations Control Teams (Pusdalops) throughout regions.
Meanwhile, the central-level Pusdalops team and the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agencies (BPBDs) are on standby at posts set up in disaster-prone areas.
Muhari ensured that the Pusdalops teams are physically capable and equipped with devices to support the disaster mitigation and evacuation processes.
"They are on standby, but so far, as of today, we have not received any disaster emergency report, especially in Jakarta, which is part of the seven priority areas," he remarked.
Earlier, the BNPB had determined that the seven priority regions for emergency response during the election stage period, on February 13-20, were Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, and South Sulawesi.
The BNPB determined the seven regions, as they are considered prone to disasters due to the latest extreme weather conditions. The regions have experienced disaster impacts in the last three years.
The seven regions have the largest number of voters and the highest number of polling stations, ranging from 26,357 to over 140 thousand polling stations per region.
Muhari expressed hope that the voting day on Wednesday would run smoothly and free from the impact of natural disasters.
Meanwhile, the BNPB, along with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) and other agencies, continually monitor the weather developments during the election period.
