Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan Edy Pratowo noted in a statement received in Palangka Raya, Tuesday, that the local area has the potential to produce food crops, especially rice, corn, and soybeans, as well as horticultural commodities, including bananas, oranges, pineapples, and dragon fruit.
"For this reason, since 2023, the governor of Central Kalimantan has begun building a Close House or Chicken Apartment and build a feed processing plant," he elaborated.
In addition, in the pavement sector, two processing plants were built, namely Rice to Rice and Rice Milling Plant. As for the field of horticulture, Green House Smart Farming was also built.
"However, of course we still have many things to learn and complete," Pratowo remarked.
Hence, the Central Kalimantan provincial government undertook a working visit to Lampung Province as a follow-up to the Central Kalimantan governor's direction regarding the development of food crop production, especially corn and horticultural crops, from upstream to downstream.
"We carried out this working visit with good intentions, namely to gain knowledge and experience in Lampung which we assess has been successful in implementing downstream agriculture," he remarked.
Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi said his side was open to establishing cooperation between regions. He deems this to be important, as regional economic development can no longer be done alone.
"(Establish) inter-regional collaboration with each other, build networks, share technology and learning, share experiences, and together encourage regional competitiveness whose potential certainly varies from one region to another," he emphasized.
He expressed hope that through these visits and meetings, these areas could be explored through concrete forms of synergy and collaboration in order to build the regional economy to become stronger.
