Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has established a partnership agreement with the World Food Programme (WFP) to alleviate poverty, eliminate malnutrition, and reduce the stunting rate.

Bapanas head Arief Prasetyo Adi said here on Thursday that the collaboration with WFP is among the development agendas that are being encouraged by the government.

The government has established partnerships with various parties to tackle all problems related to food, he added.

"We want to follow up on the cooperation with WFP that had happened from 2017 to 2021. At that time, it was still with the Food Security Agency (BKP). It was expected to accelerate the alleviation of poverty, malnutrition, and stunting," Adi said after receiving a WFP team at the Bapanas Office.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision can only be realized if the next generation is healthy and productive.

Without adequate nutrition fulfillment, he said, the expected demographic bonus may turn into a disaster.

Meeting meal and nutritional standards through the Bapanas-WFP partnership is considered essential in this context.

"If nutrition is not fulfilled, then there would still be many diseases and unstable conditions, and it will make the demographic bonus even catastrophic," Adi pointed out.

The cooperation will include a study on the Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas (FSVA), the Decision Support System (DSS) development for anticipation and control of food crises, and the development of an integrated early warning system for food security and nutrition.

It will further cover the dynamic food security index model, the production of the Small-Area Estimation (SAE) dataset at the village level, and human resource capacity development in Eastern Indonesia, or the New Autonomous Regions.
