"The digitalization of various services, both in health offices and health facilities, is now considered to have answered the community's needs amid the current era of technological development," the agency's director of information technology, Edwin Aristiawan, said here on Thursday.
In a statement released by BPJS Kesehatan, he highlighted the need to improve health infrastructure by utilizing digital technology.
According to him, the digitalization of health services can ensure the accessibility and affordability of quality health services for everyone, and thereby, help Indonesia achieve universal health coverage (UHC).
"The implementation of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program is supported by qualified digital infrastructure (such as) digital innovation, data management, and supported by a good command center," he said.
He described the use of digital technology as one of the milestones in the JKN program's optimization.
He underscored that the application of new tech such as artificial intelligence (AI) is also important to boost digital competence.
He then touched upon some digital-based innovations launched by BPJS Kesehatan, such as the JKN Mobile application.
The JKN Mobile application allows participants to check their 12-month health service history through the i-Care JKN feature.
With i-Care JKN, doctors and BPJS members can see the history of visits, medical actions, and medications in the previous 12 months. That way, doctors can provide fast and precise services.
BPJS Kesehatan has also launched Chat Assistant JKN (Chika), administration services through WhatsApp (PANDAWA), voice interactive app VIKA, and BPJS-K care center number 165.
