Jakarta (ANTARA) - Rescue workers on Tuesday continued their search for Shi Yi, a Taiwanese national who went missing after the passenger ship he was traveling in capsized in the Rambut Island waters off Seribu Islands the previous day.

"Our search and rescue operation enters the second day. Three teams of personnel are deployed to conduct the mission," head of Jakarta's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Desiana Kartika Bahari, informed.

Bahari said that Basarnas personnel have been given coordinates for focused search areas to help them locate the Taiwanese national who had boarded the vessel MV Pari Kudus, which was carrying 32 passengers and three crew members.

The search and rescue operation is being conducted on both the surface of the sea and below the sea, she informed and expressed the hope that the search mission would be accomplished on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, head of the Basarnas-Jakarta Office's Operational Division, Agung Priambodo, said that seven vessels and at least 80 personnel have been dispatched to back up the search mission.

The vessels belong to Basarnas, navy, police, and the Jakarta administration, he informed, adding that 31 passengers and three crew members of MV Pari Kudus survived the accident.

The passenger ship, which was headed to Mutiara Beach in North Jakarta from Asha Resort on Payung Island in Seribu Islands district, capsized in the Rambut Island waters on Monday, he said.

"There are 10 foreign nationals and 22 Indonesian citizens in the vessel's passenger manifest. Five of them are Chinese nationals while four others are Taiwanese nationals and one South Korean," he added.
