Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi held a meeting with the President of the World Water Council, Loic Fauchon, to discuss the Indonesian government's readiness to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF).

The meeting, held in Jakarta on Monday, is part of the final assessment conducted by the World Water Council before the forum, which will be held in Bali on May 18-25, 2024.

"We have just coordinated the preparations for the World Water Forum," Setiadi stated in a press conference held at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics office here on Monday.

He noted that at the event, themed "Water For Shared Prosperity," Indonesia will present several solutions implemented in water management in regions.

One of the solutions that will be presented is a Balinese irrigation system that is part of the local community's culture, namely Subak.

Later, the delegates will see firsthand how Subak works by visiting rice fields in Jatiluwih Village, Tabanan, Bali.

Moreover, a river restoration program in West Java, namely "Citarum Harum", will be featured at the 10th WWF.

Regarding the preparations, Setiadi affirmed that his ministry had carried out supporting preparations in terms of the telecommunication and public communication infrastructures.

"(We provide support) in the fields of infrastructure and media center, and we are also promoting the 10th World Water Forum," he remarked.

Meanwhile, President of the World Water Council Loic Fauchon stated that the council commends Indonesia.

According to Fauchon, assessment for the preparations of the 10th WWF is essential, as around seven to 10 thousand delegates from around the world are expected to attend the event.

He expressed hope that the forum would provide a platform for all delegates, including Indonesia, to gain new knowledge on water management, so that it can become a source of welfare for the community.

The event will also shed light on the handling of water-related disasters, such as floods and tsunamis so that it can become a learning opportunity for participants.

Fauchon further drew attention to two main messages of the event, namely commitment to seek solutions to water problems and sharing knowledge on water solutions that have been successfully implemented.
