Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin on Thursday expressed the hope that the Constitutional Court (MK) hearing in the 2024 presidential election results dispute (PHPU) would result in the best verdict for the nation.

"Of course, I am hoping for the best verdict for this nation, and that is all. Hopefully, we will get the best verdict for this nation," he said at a press conference in Manado city, North Sulawesi province.

As per a statement received from his secretariat in Jakarta, the Vice President affirmed that the Constitutional Court wields supreme authority to enforce law and justice and should be free from interference.

"We cannot intervene. Since the Constitutional Court surely is independent and wields absolute authority, the government should not intervene," he emphasized.

Regarding the plan of four ministers to fulfill MK's summons by attending the hearing as witnesses on Friday (April 5, 2024), Amin expressed belief that the ministers would provide the court with a more comprehensive picture of their ministerial duties.

"As I have said before, the summoned ministers will provide an explanation according to what they have been doing," he said.

He further said he hoped that the ministers would state facts that would help the judges reach a conclusion on the dispute.

"I believe that their testimonies are important for the MK to obtain more comprehensive information on various issues, including one related to social aid. I think everything will become clearer," he stated.

North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey; acting executive director of the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS), Taufik Hidayat; and vice presidential special staff Masduki Baidlowi accompanied VP Amin during the press conference.
