"The flow was monitored to be busy but running smoothly. A slowdown is occurring at the KM 90 toll road exit, but officers are already on standby there," said Police Chief Commissioner Harry Goldenhardt, the Head of Polri’s Public Information Task Force, in a statement on Saturday.
He said that police officers at the location helped break down the vehicle overcrowding by directing them into parking areas that served as buffer zones during the Eid homecoming exodus.
"The Transportation Ministry has prepared several points that become buffer zone areas and (applying) the delaying system at the port," he said.
He noted that the police also carried out traffic scheme engineering to arrange the flow of vehicles.
"The flows of vehicles, including motorcycles, to Merak Port and Bakauheni Port in Lampung, are quite smooth," he explained.
Considering that the exodus transportation peak is forecast to occur today, Goldenhardt urged travelers to plan their homecoming schedule earlier.
"The National Police Chief asked the public who will go home to plan their schedule early and ensure the driver's physical condition and take care of the vehicle itself," he said.
He also reminded travelers to increase vigilance while on the road and comply with the directions of police officers to ensure that the homecoming process runs safely and comfortably.
"Today's weather is quite sunny, and we can see closely how traffic flows in the West Jakarta Toll Road area," he concluded.
