"This activity at the ministry's office is one of the events held at one of the homecoming departure points," Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said at the departure ceremony for the participants of the 2024 Cheerful Homecoming at the Ministry of Manpower Office here on Sunday.
"This has been done at nine points (departure), and Thank God, so far, we have been able to dispatch as many as 7,000 workers/laborers," the minister added.
She said that the 7,000 people consisted of 75 percent workers and 25 percent working families.
This joint homecoming activity was successfully held thanks to the participation of companies that are members of the Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO), State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and the National Social Security Agency for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), as well as worker/labor unions.
On the same occasion, Fauziyah also said the 7,000 homecoming travelers departed using 90 buses and 15 train cars to several different destination provinces, including West Java, Central Java, East Java, Lampung, Jambi, and South Sumatra.
"Those are some of the areas where workers in Jakarta come from," she said.
The minister also said that the joint homecoming activity was a form of company concern and participation to provide happiness for workers at work and for business sustainability.
"It is also hoped that this can create harmonious, dynamic, and fair industrial relations between employers and workers," added Fauziyah.
She also hopes that the homecoming participants can return to Jakarta safely. Then, Fauziyah also hopes that this joint homecoming activity can be held again next Eid.
"Hopefully, in 2025 and beyond, we can do the same thing," said the minister.
