Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Park is holding a special "Jelajah Seru Festival Pulang Kampung" or "Homecoming Festival" to welcome the Eid al-Fitr holiday from April 8 to 14, 2024.

TMII president director Claudia Ingkiriwang said here on Monday that the activity is being held for residents who have not been able to visit their hometown for the Eid holiday.

"Usually people want to go home during Eid holiday. Now, let's go to TMII to explore the homecoming concept," she said at a press conference at TMII Park.

She said that TMII has organized a host of events ranging from a Nusantara culinary bazaar and local micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products fair as well as cultural and artistic performances.

The event, which began on April 8, features North Sumatra's Nias stone-jumping tradition, the Reog Ponorogo, the bambu gila or "crazy bamboo," Borneo Show, the kuda lumping performed in the Plaza Kori Agung, Harmoni parade, and stone-burning show at the Papua pavilion.

There is also a fairy tale performance about Nusantara using visual technology, music, and light along with dancing fountains.

"There is also Disko Pantera (Indonesian DJ). We have also prepared culinary such as Lontong Medan and the original MSMEs from their home regions," she said.

All the entertainment activities can be enjoyed by visitors without shelling out any additional fee and are already included in the TMII entrance ticket price of Rp35 thousand.

The price of tickets during the Eid holiday have been increased from the regular weekday price of Rp25 thousand, but more entertainment performances have been added.

Visitors will only be charged an additional fee if they wish to ride the cable car to enjoy the views of TMII from the sky.

TMII will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 10, and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. thereafter. Visitors are advised to buy tickets online to avoid long queues.
