Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will host an open house on Eid al-Fitr at the Presidential Palace, which will be open to the public.

The Presidential Secretariat's protocol bureau head, Yusuf Permana, invited officials and the general public to visit the Presidential Palace during the open house.

The event will start at 9 a.m. Jakarta time (UTC +7) after the President concludes his Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque, which is located close to the palace. Eid al-Fitr is expected to fall on Wednesday (April 10, 2024).

"We plan the open house for officials and the general public on Wednesday, God willing, it will be the first day of Shawwal month (Eid al-Fitr day), at 9 a.m.," Permana said at the Merdeka Palace complex here on Monday.

The President will not extend a special invitation to officials and members of the public for the open house, which means that residents can freely visit the palace to meet Widodo and his family on Eid al-Fitr day, he informed.

However, Permana asked residents planning to participate in the open house to follow palace regulations.

"Visitors should be orderly and follow all regulations at the palace. Nevertheless, we will relax a bit and not be too rigid as the day is Eid al-Fitr. It is a day of togetherness, a day of joy, and the day when we forgive each other," the bureau head said.

Meanwhile, Presidential Secretariat head Heru Budi Hartono urged residents planning to join the open house at the Presidential Palace complex to wear appropriate attire.

"All clothes are okay as long as appropriate. No jeans, however. Wear shoes," he said.
