"We will find solutions to likely heavy traffic congestion (on arterial routes in Pantura)," he remarked in Cirebon District, West Java, on Tuesday.
To devise the strategies, Sumadi is planning to conduct first-hand inspections on routes along the districts of Cirebon and Karang, with the aim of monitoring the current traffic flow ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
The inspections are expected to result in information on the impacts of the implementation of the one-way system on toll roads on vehicular flow on arterial roads, he noted.
He further explained that the government would take into account the information in deciding on measures for anticipating the upcoming Eid exodus reverse flow.
"I will visit several points, especially resort police and transportation offices, as we are all aware that they have been working hard. I seek to get insights on what to do," he pointed out.
The minister then stated that the traffic flow on arterial roads had started to return to normal since the peak of the Eid homecoming flow had passed.
"Based on my observation so far, the traffic is not too crowded. It is our responsibility to ensure that all trips run smoothly," he stated.
He affirmed that the government would take steps to expedite traffic flows around Merak Port in Banten to prevent congestion during the reverse flow.
"We will go there (Merak Port) on D+3 of Eid. We will coordinate with the police, regional governments, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth flow of vehicles," he remarked.
Sumadi then vowed to take requisite viable measures for ensuring the safety and comfort of all Eid homecoming travelers.
