Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated that the progress in construction of ministerial houses in Indonesia's new capital city Nusantara in East Kalimantan has reached 80 percent.

"The construction of all units of ministerial houses in the new capital is targeted to be completed by July this year," he remarked here on Tuesday.

Of the total 36 units of ministerial houses, four units have been completed, while the rest are currently in the process of being readied.

Hadimuljono further noted that out of a total of 47 towers of apartments for civil servants' residences, he stated that 12 towers would be completed by July 2024.

According to the minister, the topping off has been carried out for nine out of the 12 towers before the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Speaking in connection with the furnishing of the civil servants' residences, the minister remarked that it had been postponed since the apartments would be used as accommodations for officers of the 79th Independence Day Ceremony, scheduled to be held in the new capital area on August 17, 2024.

"The furniture that is prepared (for the officers) is probably beds and dining table, while the other furniture is still being kept. Later, after the Independence Day Ceremony concluded, all the furniture will be put in," he remarked.

The ministry's Nusantara Capital Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force stated that the ministerial houses in Nusantara are developed in accordance with the compact city concept.

The development of houses, with a compact city concept, generally emphasizes residential environmental planning that is integrated with several principles, such as land efficiency, accessibility, and a sustainable lifestyle.

Each of the ministerial houses has a land area of around one thousand square meters, with a building area of around 500 square meters and has two floors.
