Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Health Ministry strengthened health transformation through collaboration with the Singaporean government in the health human resource development sector.

The ministry's Head of the Public Communication and Service Bureau, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, made the statement here on Tuesday.

Tarmizi remarked that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong discussed cooperation in boosting the capacity of medical personnel and health service digitalization at the Leaders' Retreat at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday (April 29).

"The skill development of health human resources is included in several implementations of Indonesia-Singapore cooperation," she stated.

Earlier, on March 29, Tarmizi remarked that the Indonesian Health Ministry had held a meeting with the Singapore Medical Council in order to study the recognition system of overseas educational institutions, skill evaluation mechanism, and the division of roles between the medical council and collegium in Singapore.

Moreover, on March 5, a delegation from the Indonesian Health Development Policy Agency and the ministry's Directorate General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices visited Singapore's Agency for Care Effectiveness (ACE).

"The visit was in order to study the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Singapore," she remarked.

Moreover, in January 2024, the Directorate General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices visited the Singaporean Ministry of Health to discuss the development of specialist pharmacists and ease of access to innovative drugs in Singapore.

Another form of collaboration was the "health diaspora meeting" by Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in November 2023 in Singapore to encourage the delivery of Indonesian nurses to Singapore through the Government to Government (G-to-G) scheme.

Tarmizi highlighted that Indonesia and Singapore also established an agreement on the Sister Hospital program or hospital assistance program in order to develop the competence of medical personnel in the country.
