BPBD Cianjur head Asep Sukma Wijaya said on Wednesday that the status was declared as the ground cracks impacted houses and residents.
"There were 61 houses and two mosques affected, while displaced families, totaling 67, housed 214 people," he said.
As of Wednesday, no specific evacuation site had been determined because most people chose to stay in their relatives' homes, which were considered safe from ground movement.
However, several shelters were built for affected residents, he added.
The BPBD Cianjur has built a monitoring post to measure the cracks, and emergency response officers will submit daily reports.
"The emergency status will be extended if cracks persist," Wijaya said.
He added that his team is still waiting for a study to determine whether residents should be relocated.
"If relocation becomes absolutely necessary, we already have some places for settlement," he said. "Otherwise, other programs can be implemented, such as planting strong trees in the village."
