Jakarta (ANTARA) - The US-based global technology corporation Apple is still committed to actualizing its plan on placing capital in Indonesia, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated.

Kartasasmita accentuated the statement by pointing to the company's plan to develop the fourth Apple Developer Academy in Bali Province.

"(The investment of) Apple will proceed, as evidenced by their plan to build the fourth academy," he remarked in Jakarta on Friday.

Specifically for Apple products, Kartasasmita noted that the government is carrying out a special calculation regarding the domestic component level (TKDN) provision.

According to the minister, the calculation for Apple's TKDN value is based on the total value of capital invested by the technology giant in Indonesia.

"(The investment value) has almost reached Rp1.6 trillion (US$99.5 million). However, for me, that figure is still not enough. That is not enough," he remarked.

Earlier, Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi dismissed rumors circulating on social media claiming that Apple has decided to cancel its investment plans in Indonesia.

"No, those (rumors) are hoaxes. They (Apple) are positive. They are interested (in investing in Indonesia)," he told journalists in Depok, West Java Province, on Thursday (May 2).

Setiadi affirmed that the company has continued to send positive signals of investment, adding that the Indonesia government is currently devising incentives to draw the Tim Cook-led company to actualize its investment in Indonesia.

"I can assure you that we have been receiving positive rather than negative signals (of investment). Microsoft is also interested (in investing)," he emphasized.

Furthermore, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that Apple is interested in investing in the development of artificial intelligence in Indonesia's future capital city Nusantara, East Kalimantan.
