KLHK's Director of Environmental Pollution and Damage Control, Sigit Reliantoro, said on Sunday that the triennial forum would feature several agendas, including a side event themed "Mother Forest: Forests as the Root of the Food, Energy, and Water Nexus."
He said that the theme points to the vital functions and roles played by forests in supporting the fulfillment of the needs for food, energy, and water.
"We can say that all those needs find their roots in forests," he pointed out.
Reliantoro said that Indonesia would also make the most of the forum to showcase its success in implementing several programs aimed at prudently managing water resources.
He added that one of the programs is the use of water for operating microhydropower plants.
"We have numerous examples of sustainable water resource utilization, including those related to microhydropower plants," he said.
Reliantoro added that Indonesia is developing such power plants in conservation zones, such as Gunung Palung, Betung Kerihun, and Melintang national parks.
The World Water Forum is an international meeting focused on discussing water resilience and sustainable water management.
During a session of the World Water Council in Senegal in 2022, Indonesia was appointed as host for the upcoming forum that will be held under the main theme of "Water for Shared Prosperity."
Around 50,000 delegates from various countries are expected to take part in the forum.
