Head of the South Kalimantan Maritime and Fisheries Services, Rusdi Hartono, stated in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Tuesday, that the conservation-based artificial coral reef program involved a private company PT Aditya Aryaprawira and the community in the Angsana conservation area.
"In order to support the artificial coral reef and fish restocking program, we provided operational assistance and business capital to 30 fishermen and 35 small traders in Angsana," he revealed.
"And for transplanting 300 units of artificial coral reefs and restocking five thousand economically valuable fish," he added.
He remarked that the program aligned with the direction of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government's policy regarding environmental development as stated in the 2021-2026 Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD).
The policy direction is the existence of basic harmonization between balance and harmony and in accord with the ecological, social, economy, and culture systems.

"The artificial coral reef program really supports the vision and mission of local governments in improving the environment, especially in water and coastal areas," he remarked.
Hartono explained that environmental improvements in South Kalimantan were carried out in two main programs, that is the rehabilitation program for coastal areas and small islands and the empowerment program for coastal communities and small islands.
Hence, he said, the artificial coral reef and fish restocking program is a corporate effort aimed at improving the marine environment and ecosystem and is able to increase biodiversity in the Angsana conservation area.
Hartono urged the community to utilize the aid wisely and responsibly, so that it provides benefits to improve the welfare of community households in the Angsana coastal area.
"We hope that the synergy between the government and private companies and the community can be even better. This is very important to maintain the sustainability of marine resources and community welfare," he remarked.
