Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) underscored that the presence of the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH) in Depok, West Java, can boost growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

"Yes, it is also aimed at supporting it," he stated while speaking in connection with the impact of IDTH on the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

Jokowi made the statement after inaugurating the IDTH in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.

Jokowi noted that Indonesia, so far, has five companies that produce electric cars and 59 companies that manufacture electric motorcycles.

He further noted that several investors of similar products are also interested to invest in the country.

"Later, new ones will enter. I think this will make the growth of our electric car ecosystem even faster," he remarked.

At the same event, Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi, in his remarks, explained that the IDTH is the largest and most complete telecommunications devices testing center in Southeast Asia and is of international standards.

"The IDTH is currently equipped with various sophisticated international-class facilities to test the features of digital devices," he remarked.

The features that are tested include telecommunications, electromagnetic radio frequency, electrical safety, standardization of export products, as well as interoperability and interference protection between devices for user safety and security.

According to the minister, the testing capacity of the IDTH in 2024 is projected to reach 1,600 features and will reach an average of five thousand features per year starting from 2025.

"We are also developing the function of the IDTH. This facility does not only serve as a center of testing but also a center of excellence for digital devices," he remarked.
