In the ministry's statement received by ANTARA here on Tuesday, Minister Bakar explained that in terms of maintaining integrity in global carbon trading, state sovereignty, and avoiding green washing, Indonesia has issued a regulation on carbon trading.
The minister elaborated that one of the important factors in international carbon trading is environmental integrity that should be maintained by supervising the value of carbon traded.
Environmental integrity indicators include transparency, accuracy, consistency, completeness, and comparability, she pointed out.
"The original intention in regulating carbon economic value in Indonesia's carbon emission reduction efforts, namely is to fulfill Indonesia's commitment to the global community, which is reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions," Bakar stated.
The minister emphasized that there should not be infringement in the original intention of regulating the carbon economic value.

Bakar said that Indonesia reduces GHG emissions through the determination of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
"And, of course, there is an incentive that can be given to all stakeholders that organize carbon emission reduction," she remarked.
The minister also drew attention to the misinformation about Indonesia's Carbon Economic Value issue at a business forum held in Singapore.
Minister Bakar explained that the government prepares its policies based on the 1945 Constitution and the existing laws and regulations as well as based on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conventions.
"A further consequence of this misinformation is the threat to state sovereignty on forest carbon offset and land management agreements that will interfere with state jurisdiction," she remarked.
The minister also cautioned about the potential for misuse of the concession agreement that is given to operators, such as business entities and corporations.
