Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) offering food and beverage (F&B) products play a critical role in maintaining people's health and productivity in the new capital (IKN) Nusantara, according to the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN).
"MSMEs are the engine of Indonesia's national economy. Hence, it is necessary to guide and pay more attention to MSME actors, especially those selling F&B products at the IKN," OIKN's Director of Basic Services, Suwito, noted in the authority's press release received here on Wednesday.
In order to produce healthy Nusantara residents, he said, the OIKN is organizing a ready-to-eat meal safety training in collaboration with the Health Ministry, East Kalimantan Provincial Government, Balikpapan Municipal Government, and North Penajam Paser District Government.
"Healthy food can prevent foodborne diseases from spreading, while nutritious food can maintain people's health and enhance their productivity," he pointed out.
Suwito then stated that by participating in the training activity, MSME players can gain knowledge and also obtain certificates that can be used for applying for business permits.

"Next, we (the Health Ministry) will formulate quality standards in a bid to assist MSMEs in producing superior products," Yuswani stated.
The official explained that the steps are aimed at expediting the actualization of safe and healthy food management in IKN Nusantara.
