"The Directorate General of Land Transportation appeals to all bus operators and drivers to regularly check the condition of the buses," the Head of the Legal and Public Relations Section of the Directorate General of Land Transportation Aznal said in a statement here on Sunday.
He also asked the community to check buses' roadworthiness before they travel by using the ministry's MitraDarat application to ensure their security and safety.
Users may enter vehicle license numbers in the application and a statement will come out whether the vehicle is roadworthy or not.
In addition to vehicle roadworthiness, the application will also show vehicles' permits for transport operation and information on regular test results.
"To people who use buses, they can check the roadworthiness of the bus before their departure on the MitraDarat application which can be downloaded on their smartphones," he remarked.
