"We have learned it. We have calculated the numbers, and we are confident it will be realized," Prabowo stated at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (May 15), observed via online broadcast.
He also expressed confidence in being able to maintain the state budget deficit below three percent while ensuring the sustainability of his priority programs as president.
Indonesia has maintained its debt-to-GDP ratio at a lower level, he remarked, adding that the country is exercising prudence in managing its fiscal posture.
"I believe Indonesia is one of the countries that can maintain a lower debt-to-GDP ratio level. Hence, I believe it is time for us to be more courageous in implementing good governance," Prabowo noted.
The president-elect revealed that budget adjustment is one of the strategies he will implement to optimize funding for the free lunch and milk program for residents.
"We consider budget refocusing and cuts to some non-essential programs. It is about efficiency, good governance, and good management," he remarked.
Prabowo also affirmed that he will continue President Joko Widodo's digitization program in government functions, including procurement. He said digitization will improve efficiency and save the state budget.
"We can economize more by reducing unnecessary things, which will help contribute to and encourage economic growth, so, yes, we are confident," he remarked.
Prabowo was in Qatar on Tuesday (May 14), and on Wednesday, he carried out his engagement as a speaker at the Qatar Economic Forum.
The visit to Qatar was the second leg of his visit to the Arabian Peninsula after he met United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Monday (May 13).
