Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Thursday shared the state budget strategy for accommodating the free nutritious meal program proposed by President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

"Everyone always asks about the free lunch program. Therefore, we outline the grand picture of the state budget to the new government," she informed at the Indonesian Jesuit National Seminar in Jakarta on Thursday.

She said that she is aware of the challenges to implementing the program. However, to mitigate these challenges, her ministry is planning to carry out reforms in several aspects.

"We continue to reform in terms of taxation, strengthen institutions, eradicate corruption, and increase investment in the digital sector to ensure certainty and minimize corruption," she added.

The ministry is also continuing to improve budget management. The budget will be strengthened, especially to withstand shocks from global economic turmoil, Indrawati said.

Furthermore, there is no high-income country without good quality human resources (HR), she noted. Therefore, the state will make efforts to improve the quality of human resources.

Efforts made by her ministry to improve the quality of human resources have included providing a state budget allocation of 20 percent for education, 6 percent for health, and 50 percent for social security.

The government is also encouraging infrastructure development to support people's productivity and mobility, she added.

"Whether it is in the form of education, health, or social security using lunch programs, all of this aims to improve human resources," she said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance, through the Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) document, set the state budget deficit target for the 2025 fiscal year in the range of 2.45–2.82 percent.

Meanwhile, state income was pegged at 12.14–12.36 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), and state expenditure was estimated in the range of 14.59 percent to 15.18 percent of the GDP.
