The team's leader, Nurfa Fatayani, stated that health literacy is important, not only to prepare for the realization of the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision but also due to the many health problems experienced by school-age children.
"The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey revealed that 58 percent of children aged 10–14 lack physical activity and have high consumption of sugary foods," she stated during an online health education workshop delivered to educational units on Saturday.
This condition contributed to the rise in diabetes cases among Indonesians in 2023, she noted.
Fatayani elaborated that the 22 health topics are categorized into seven groups: nutrition, reproductive health, mental health, hygiene and sanitation, healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and disaster preparedness.
Examples of the 22 topics include balanced nutrition, iron and vitamin A supplementation, regular growth monitoring, preventing harassment and violence, managing emotions, and participation in mental health counseling.
Additionally, the topics cover proper hygiene practices for food, drinks, skin, and the environment, as well as handwashing with soap, first aid, and disaster preparedness.
Fatayani stressed that the team, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, had developed 154 teaching materials encompassing infographics, comic strips, videos, and cartoons.
She added that 57 of these materials are already accessible online on the Merdeka Mengajar (Independent Teaching) platform of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
