President Jokowi also urged regional governments to draw investment to build the processing industry in a bid to create added value for each product in the agricultural and plantation sectors.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called on all regional governments with superior agricultural sectors to apply smart technology to update their work systems.

President Jokowi made this statement while opening the National Working Meeting (Rakornas) on Inflation Control that was attended by regional heads from all provinces, cities, and districts, both through online and offline means, at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday.

"Now is the era of technology, the era of smart systems. Continue to improve it, especially in the districts. We must be able to upgrade our agricultural system to become smart agriculture, especially for the advantages that exist in our respective regions," he affirmed.

According to the president, research in the agricultural sector should primarily focus on superior commodities.

"When doing research, you do not have to do it for many (commodities); only the superior ones," he remarked.

The head of state highlighted that each region in Indonesia has a superior food commodity that can be researched as a model for others.

"Do research; make a model. If you succeed in coffee, replicate it," he told regional governments.

At Friday's meeting, President Jokowi also urged regional governments to draw investment to build the processing industry in a bid to create added value for each product in the agricultural and plantation sectors.

"You should also build an integrated distribution system. It has been carried out now in China, so that the distribution system is really integrated," he stated.
