President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left for Jakarta on Thursday after wrapping up his two-day official visit to Central Kalimantan province.
According to a statement received from his secretariat in Jakarta, he headed for Tjilik Riwut Airport of Palangka Raya city from Batuah Buntok Stadium in South Barito district at 1:55 p.m. on a Super Puma helicopter belonging to the Indonesian Air Force.
After arriving in Palangka Raya at 2:45 p.m., the President flew back to Jakarta on the Indonesia-1 Presidential Special Aircraft.
On the first day of his Central Kalimantan visit, Widodo inspected markets and public hospitals in a number of regions, namely Palangka Raya city and the districts of East Kotawaringin and Katingan.
During his visit to East Kotawaringin, he carried out a first-hand review of the implementation of the water pumping installation program in the district.
The following day, the head of state carried out agendas in Palangka Raya, East Barito district, and South Barito district.
In Palangka Raya, he inaugurated development, rehabilitation, and renovation projects for 16 educational facilities and infrastructures in a number of regions of Central Kalimantan. The total budget for the projects is pegged at Rp82.4 billion (US$5.1 million).
He then headed to East Barito to visit Temenggoeng Djaja Karti Market, where he reviewed the prices of staple goods and handed over assistance to local residents and merchants.
He also paid a visit to the district's Tamiang Layang Regional Public Hospital to review its preparedness to receive and operate advanced medical equipment provided by the government.
Widodo continued his agenda by making a visit to South Barito to review the prices of basic goods at Beringin Buntok Market before inspecting stocks of rice and distributing rice aid to beneficiaries at a nearby warehouse belonging to state-run logistics company Bulog.
On the occasion, he announced the government's decision to once again extend the distribution of rice assistance until December this year.
