Palangka Raya, C Kalimantan (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed the prices of food staples and provided assistance to traders at the Temenggoeng Djaja Karti Market, East Barito district, Central Kalimantan province, on Thursday.

During his visit, he highlighted the price stability in the market, which indicates an effective food distribution system.

"The prices are good, for example, chicken is Rp38 thousand per kilogram, then shallots and garlic are Rp35 thousand–Rp40 thousand per kg. Cooking oil is Rp16 thousand per liter. I think they are the same as in Java," he said in a press statement.

During a working visit to Central Kalimantan, he also visited the Tamiang Layang Regional Hospital.

He took note of the price equality between markets in Kalimantan and Java, which indicates good distribution and transportation of food to markets in all regions.

The President also observed that the stocks of staples in the markets have been maintained well so far.

"If the prices are stable, it means that the stock is safe. If the stock runs low, the price will definitely go up," he said.
