During the PENA Muda roadshow in West Bandung district, West Java, on Monday, at least 200 youths participated in entrepreneurship training. They comprised 82 PENA Muda beneficiaries, 74 students from universities in Bandung, 36 beneficiaries from other PENA variants, and 50 Family Hope Program assistants.
On the occasion, Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini motivated the young beneficiaries, saying that their success depends on no one but themselves, and they can achieve it as long as they are willing to fight for it.
According to her, opportunity does not come twice, so they must seize it while they can.
There are some qualities that are required to develop a business, those being discipline, curiosity, and the willingness to deliver the best, Rismaharini added. The qualities also include having an eye for opportunities, she stressed.
Last but not least, she added, they must note down all transactions to keep track of and control their finances. Hence, during the training, beneficiaries were taught the basics of financial literacy as well as record-keeping on the Notes PENA app.
The beneficiaries, she said, can also consult top designers from Tata Rupa Nusantara to come up with interesting and hygienic packaging. She opined that attractive packaging can draw more attention, thereby amping up sales.
Maulana Sidik, 26, a beneficiary from Mekarwangi village, West Bandung district, West Java, who runs a convection business, said that he was grateful for the aid.
"I have always wanted to offer employment opportunity to others, particularly family. Although this business is still growing, slowly it is coming true," he added.
