Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto stated that the Civilized Indonesia Movement (GIT) conference held in Bali can produce pioneers in human character development.

"We hope that the participants will be provided with insights to become pioneers in the development of civilized human character. I ask us to work hard sincerely," Tjahjanto remarked.

The minister explained that he chose Bali as the conference location after a similar activity was earlier held in Riau Province.

The activity presented speakers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, National Police, and Bali provincial government, who conveyed their guidance.

Minister Tjahjanto, who attended online, stated that the speakers were competent in guiding the 300 participants comprising those from community organizations and local figures in Bali.

At the conference, discussions centered around efforts to improve civil administration, traffic order, and the participation of community groups in encouraging civilized behavior in public spaces.

Tjahjanto emphasized that the effort to build human character is important, as countries around the world, including Indonesia, are facing various economic, social, cultural, and political dynamics.

According to the minister, the current dynamics are also influenced by scientific and technological advancements, so society must take requisite anticipatory measures.

"This is a challenge for us to continue to adapt through the acceleration and transformation of economic, socio-cultural, and human resource development," he remarked.

He stated that President Joko Widodo had issued Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2016 on the National Movement for Mental Revolution (GNRM) which includes the Civilized Indonesia Movement.

Subsequently, this movement evolved into a means to bring about a mental revolution aimed at transforming the behavior of Indonesians to lead a more civilized existence.
