Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas and Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim carried out consolidation for the development of teachers' and lecturers' careers.

At a meeting in Jakarta on Monday, the two discussed strategic issues related to the management of teacher and lecturer human resources.

"Today, Mr. Nadiem and I discussed the management of teaching staff talents, one of which is related to the welfare of functional positions of teachers and lecturers through career development and strengthening," Anas said in a statement issued here on Monday.

One of the directions of the government employee recruitment policy this year is to focus on meeting the demand for teachers.

The State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry has granted permits for 40,541 government employee candidate positions within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

"We have discussed how to fulfill the need for government employee teachers and lecturers. We also discussed the careers of teachers and lecturers so that their future is much more promising, clear, and not complicated," he explained.

According to him, based on the spread of government employees, most are still working in large islands and urban areas, especially Java Island.

Therefore, the government has initiated measures to provide career acceleration and more appreciation for government employees serving in the underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.

"We were all looking for common ground so that lecturers and teachers in all regions of the country would have a better situation, a better career, and their performance is becoming more optimal," he explained.

Meanwhile, Minister Makarim said that his ministry is reviewing inputs on the management of teachers and lecturers in Indonesia, including career guarantees and welfare.

"We want to carry out acceleration to ensure that the careers of lecturers and teachers are much more flexible so that in the future, their careers can be revved," he added.
