Jakarta (ANTARA) - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Maruli Simanjuntak, called on all new military commissioned officers who recently graduated from the Military Academy to keep up with the times in carrying out their duties.

In this case, he underscored the need for military officers to adapt to the environment or place where they will be assigned later.

"Adjust to the new environment immediately, both in carrying out duties and in adapting to the surrounding community," Simanjuntak remarked while giving his mandate to new Army officers at the Army Headquarters in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

Maruli emphasized that this was necessary so that the army officers' presence could be well-received by the community.

He also reminded new officers to be humble in their conduct with the local community when assigned to the region.

"Avoid various problems that can embarrass yourself and the unit," Maruli stressed.

By prioritizing a humanist approach, Maruli believes that the army officers' presence in the regions will provide the community with a sense of security.

Moreover, he affirmed that military officers are expected to keep abreast of developments, especially in the fields of science, information, and technology.

Young military officers who can utilize technology will contribute to advancing the Army's defense technology system, he remarked.

"This aligns with the Army's duties that are very complex and dynamic," he stated.

The Army chief of staff also called on young officers to continue to ignite the spirit of nationalism in order to defend the nation's sovereignty.

"Uphold the philosophy of 'we must respect the customs where we live.' Always maintain the good name of your unit and the Army," Simanjuntak concluded.
