President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) fulfilled his promise to stay and work from Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan prior to the commemoration of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) stated.
In a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, KSP chief expert staff Ade Irfan Pulungan noted that the president's temporary stay at Nusantara's Garuda Palace had assured the public that phase I of IKN's development had been running as planned.
"President Jokowi had started running the government at the IKN on Monday, July 29. Hence, we can expect to see punctual transfer of civil servants to the new capital city," he pointed out.
Pulungan remarked that during his stay, which concluded on Tuesday (July 30), Jokowi also personally monitored ongoing construction works and visited facilities that had been built in the city.
"President Jokowi has been thoroughly overseeing the development of infrastructures that are included in the list of national strategic projects. This has led to the punctual completion of a number of major projects," he said.

Pulungan further remarked that the head of state had repeatedly invited his ministers to visit and stay at the IKN to review the city's development up close and encourage all parties to work hard for the sake of the nation.
He expressed belief that Jokowi's presence in Nusantara would convince business actors that investing in the city is the right choice, as construction works there have been running as expected.
The official also expressed optimism about the next government led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka pursuing the acceleration of IKN's development.
"Thus, the IKN, pioneered by President Jokowi, will play a strategic role in bringing progress to Indonesia in the future," he stated.
