Bandung District, West Java (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin called on the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police to follow up on the person with the initial "T" suspected of being behind online gambling practices.

"It has been revealed at the cabinet meeting regarding this "T" person. Now, it has been reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit," Amin stated.

The vice president conveyed this in a press statement aboard the Whoosh Fast Train at Tegalluar Station, Bandung District, West Java (Jabar), Thursday, after attending an event in Sumedang District, West Java.

Benny Rhamdani, head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), blew the lid off the person with the initial "T." He has also fulfilled the Criminal Investigation Unit's summons for his statement.

"Now, the Criminal Investigation Unit can investigate this person. Who is "T"? Is this news correct or not?" Amin stated.

According to the VP, disclosing about the figure "T" is important to avoid triggering public polemics.

"The initial has been revealed and reported to the Police. Now, we are waiting for the follow-up. We hope it will not cause another polemic in the future. Many names start with T. It should not create confusion," he emphasized.

Earlier, Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi pressed for revealing the names behind Indonesia's online gambling practice.

"Do not only use the initials. Just drop the name," he stated at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (July 31), in response to the matter involving the individual with the initial "T" believed to be the actor behind the online gambling practice.

Setiadi admitted to being unaware of the person with the initial "T." The minister also suggested that it would be better to get further details from the individual who first revealed details about the person "T."

"Just ask the person who revealed the initial. There is no 'T,'" he emphasized.
