A bag belonging to the manager of the badminton national team, Armand Darmadji, was stolen from a car in Paris…
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian badminton team lost a bag containing 53 thousand euros, a credit card, and a passport in Paris at 5:30 p.m. local time on Monday, according to the Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI).

"A bag belonging to the manager of the badminton national team, Armand Darmadji, was stolen from a car in Paris on Monday at around 5:30 p.m. local time," a PBSI statement said.

As per the details of the incident, Darmadji was in the car with his colleague, Puspa Irawati, when the suspected thief reportedly deflated the vehicle's tire and told Irawati about the flat tire.

Darmadji went to check the tire and at the same time, Irawati went to stores nearby. After contacting the rental service and asking the police about their location, Darmadji returned to the car and found that the bag was no longer there.

He then reported the incident to the Indonesian Embassy in Paris and received assistance from the embassy's staff and the local police.

Despite the incident, the return schedule of the Indonesian badminton team has not been disrupted.

The badminton contingent will return home together on August 7, 2024, except for bronze medalist Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, who will return on Friday (August 9).

Tunjung will return later because she will be participating in several programs of the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC) in Paris, as per the PBSI statement.

On Sunday, she was determined the bronze medalist in women's singles badminton after Spain's Carolina Marin decided to withdraw due to injury.

Her bronze medal is Indonesia's first at the 2024 Paris Olympics. It is also the first medal for the country in women's singles after Maria Kristin won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
