Jakarta (ANTARA) - Several state officials attended the 2024 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Friday in traditional wear.

The annual session was held along with the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD).

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was dressed in black Demang attire of Betawi, accompanied by traditional fabric, chain accessories adorning his chest, and a black peci (cap) on his head.

The president arrived at the venue at around 8:55 a.m. local time, accompanied by First Lady Iriana, who was seen wearing a cream-colored traditional kebaya attire.

At the session, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin wore a traditional black outfit from Palembang. He was spotted wearing a head cover and songket (traditional woven fabric) around the waist.

Amin arrived at the Parliamentary Complex at around 8:35 a.m. local time, accompanied by Second Lady Wury, who wore a green Betawi kebaya dress with flower motifs and a green scarf.

Furthermore, DPR Speaker Puan Maharani attended the session wearing a golden kebaya paired with a scarf of the same color.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani was seen wearing red-and-white-themed clothing, with white kebaya and red batik fabric.

The 2024 Annual Session is held with a theme of "New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia."

At the session, President Jokowi is scheduled to deliver performance reports on state institutions and a State of the Nation Address for the 79th Independence Anniversary of Indonesia.

After the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session, Friday's event will be continued at 1:30 p.m. local time with a plenary meeting of the DPR regarding the 2025 draft state budget (RAPBN).
