Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that Indonesia continues to consistently partake in energy transition efforts that are carried out carefully and gradually.

"We aim for an energy transition that is just, affordable, and accessible to the public," President Jokowi said here on Friday.

He made the statement during the Delivery of the Performance Report State Institutions and the State Speech of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Senayan Parliament Complex Building on Friday.

The president highlighted Indonesia’s substantial potential in the green energy sector, which exceeds 3,600 gigawatts (GW).

He emphasized that as the world shifts towards a green economy, Indonesia is determined not to miss this opportunity due to its significant green energy potential, including resources like water, wind, solar, geothermal, ocean waves, and bioenergy.

He also stressed the importance of managing the nation’s wealth effectively for the public's benefit and maximizing its use for the welfare of the people.

"We have reclaimed assets previously managed by foreign parties for decades, such as Freeport, the Rokan Block, and Newmont, which have significantly benefited those foreign entities. We are grateful to have taken these back," the president stated.

The 2024 Annual Session was held under the theme of "Nusantara Baru, Indonesia Maju" (New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia).

It included the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and the Plenary Session of the DPR for the 2024-2025 period.
