Jakarta (ANTARA) - The “Puspa Warni” song and the “Natana Borneo” dance were performed to celebrate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Palace in Nusantara, the new capital city in East Kalimantan, on Saturday.

The song, composed by Guruh Soekarno Putra, the youngest son of Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno, was performed by singers Mawar De Jongh, Novia Bachmid, and Olivia Pardede. Some guests at the event also joined in singing the song.

Meanwhile, the dance performance featured art groups and studios from various regions across East Kalimantan, as well as an infantry battalion from Samarinda, the province’s capital.

The art performances successfully raised enthusiasm and showcased pride in Indonesia's cultural diversity.

The Independence Day ceremony was held at two locations: Nusantara and Jakarta.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led the ceremony in Nusantara, while Vice President Ma’ruf Amin presided over the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The celebration in Nusantara was a special moment as the replica of the Heirloom Red and White Flag was raised for the first time in the new capital city.

The theme “New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia” reflects the momentum of Indonesia’s transition, particularly in welcoming the new capital city and the transition of government.

Some officials attended the ceremony in traditional attire. Jokowi wore traditional East Kalimantan clothing, while President-elect Prabowo Subianto donned a traditional outfit typical of East Java.
