Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) has said that it is continuing to accelerate digitalization to support the development of national postal service and logistics.

The steps taken by Kominfo to achieve this end have included preparing the Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) 2045 as one of the national digital transformation road maps.

"In line with that, Kominfo continues to encourage the digitalization of the postal sector through the use of tracking system and logistics technology," Kominfo Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said, according to a press release issued here on Monday.

He made the statement while inaugurating the East Jakarta Postal Processing Center of state postal company PT Pos Indonesia during its 278th anniversary celebration.

Setiadi expressed the hope that the various product and service innovations created and developed by Pos Indonesia can provide public satisfaction.

He said that public satisfaction can be achieved through the improvement of the 744 postal offices across Indonesia.

It is expected that PT Pos Indonesia will face various global challenges by maximizing opportunities for digitalization and technological advancements, he added.

According to him, digital transformation has opened up opportunities for various sectors, including the postal and logistics industries.

He said the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) is part of PT Pos Indonesia's effort to automate the process of sorting shipments and thereby, become competitive in the postal delivery sector.

"However, increasing the reach and quality of postal services requires the right policies to realize an effective, efficient, and competitive postal industry," he added.

At the event, he lauded PT Pos Indonesia's vow to participate in the eradication of illegal online loans and online gambling.

"We must continue to strengthen collaboration in realizing an advanced digital ecosystem that is free from negative content," he said.
