"I want to end my (ministerial) term by paying utmost attention to IKN, as instructed by Mr. President (Joko Widodo). We will follow up on this occasion with more detailed and technical meetings," the minister said in his office's statement cited on Thursday.
At the meeting held on Wednesday (August 28), Effendy remarked that the government had taken steps to ensure that Indonesia employs quality talents to develop its future seat of government and that local residents are provided with the opportunity to make contributions.
The minister then drew attention to mobilization, saying that the planned transfer of civil servants to Nusantara would lead to a change in the composition of the city's population, necessitating anticipatory actions to maintain balance.
"Apart from paying attention to investment and infrastructure, it is also crucial to address matters related to three vital sectors, namely health, education, and manpower," he highlighted while implying that the three sectors are essential to human and cultural development in IKN.
Speaking in connection with the health sector, Effendy underscored the need to prioritize the employment of local health workers and provide them with special mentoring.
The minister also emphasized the importance of preparing reliable educational institutions in Nusantara to boost the quality of educational services offered to local talents.
He believed that all the steps are vital to ensure that both newcomers and local residents can seize the same opportunities and enjoy equal services.
Furthermore, he reiterated that the development of Nusantara is the manifestation of the government's commitment to replacing the Java-centric paradigm with the Indonesia-centric one to actualize equitable development for all regions and citizens.
