Jakarta (ANTARA) - Singapore is interested in investing in Indonesia's new capital Nusantara, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani has revealed.

"I just came back from Singapore where I happened to meet Sembcorp. They want to invest in solar panels," he said here on Tuesday.

In particular, the Singaporean state-owned energy and urban development company is interested in building a solar cell worth around US$60 million with a capacity of around 5 to 6 megawatts, he informed.

Another institution called Raffles Education Center is also interested in investing in Nusantara, he informed, without providing further details.

During his visit to Singapore, Roeslani expressed his surprise over being warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

"I was welcomed directly by the Prime Minister. I was there for three days, and every day was very busy because Singapore was Indonesia's largest investor for 10 consecutive years," he said.

"So it was fair for me to come there to collect information about their (business) appetite and preferences, especially in the future," he added.

Based on Nusantara's Master Plan, which has been outlined in Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the National Capital, Indonesia is targeting to become one of the five strongest economies in the world by 2045.

This target is being pursued through the four main pillars of the Indonesian Vision 2045 — human development and mastery of science and technology, sustainable economic development, equitable development, and strengthening national resilience and governance.

The national capital is being relocated as a part of the strategy to realize Indonesia's 2045 economic target through the acceleration of development in the eastern part of the country.
