In a statement on Saturday, Rohmat emphasized the importance of publicizing the event, calling it a "golden opportunity" to showcase the potential of Aceh and North Sumatra to a wider audience, both domestically and internationally.
"Effective promotion should not only focus on the PON event but also highlight the region's potential in areas like tourism and creative economy," he remarked.
Rohmat urged the government to involve the younger generation in promoting the event, leveraging their expertise in information technology and social media to disseminate positive information about the local areas.
According to Rohmat, effective cooperation is essential for ensuring smooth preparations and the timely execution of the event.
"The preparation not only involves the provincial, district, and city governments but also other local stakeholders," he remarked.
He also emphasized the importance of a smooth and uninterrupted event.
Rohmat expressed his expectation for athletes and contingents to compete fairly and with utmost effort, saying that the PON competitions will yield outstanding achievements that will make Aceh and North Sumatra proud on a national scale.
He asserted that the success of the 2024 PON will be evident in the athletes' achievements, its positive impact on the community, and its transparent and corruption-free implementation.
The 2024 PON is scheduled to open on September 9 and conclude on September 20. However, some matches have already begun in August.
The national sports event is expected to benefit the two host provinces through the development of various infrastructure projects.
The newly constructed facilities will contribute to long-term development in the areas of sports and economy.
