"Today is the first landing test of an airplane at IKN Airport. Minister Sumadi is one of the passengers," Permana remarked on Thursday.
He noted that the landing test was part of the test before the presidential plane landed at IKN Airport. Earlier, the Transportation Ministry conducted a calibration process for all facilities and equipment at Nusantara Airport to ensure its operational readiness in accordance with flight safety standards.
The airport calibration process is conducted to ensure flight safety and security, in addition to ensuring that the operation of air transportation support equipment runs correctly and accurately.
Calibration is the initial stage of a series of evaluations conducted to ensure flight safety and security at an airport. This process includes setting and testing landing aid equipment such as radar and navigation systems.
Moreover, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono ensured that the construction of Nusantara Airport's runway, taxi lane, and apron was complete.
The runway currently available has reached 2,200 x 30 meters.
Meanwhile, construction of the VVIP terminal is more than 90 percent complete, while work on the VIP terminal is almost 80 percent complete.
On Thursday, President Joko Widodo would start working at the IKN Presidential Palace. He is scheduled to brief ranks of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).
The head of state is scheduled to work from IKN for 40 days until October 19, 2024, or one day before the inauguration of President and Vice President-elect Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
During his time at the IKN, the president will also continue to visit several regions in Indonesia.
